Backstory

Why this work matters.

Boys2Men is being shaped by Ian Jackson’s conviction that young men deserve more than criticism after they have gone off track. They need a coach, a big brother, and a role model before that happens.

Ian came from a rougher part of Washington, DC and later gravitated toward working in juvenile corrections. There, he became known as someone young people listened to and respected. He has long believed his calling is to mentor boys in the Richmond and Petersburg communities so they can succeed in sports, employment, school, and life.

That vision is grounded in lived experience, steady presence, and the belief that structure, guidance, and genuine care can redirect a life.
